Our Doctor

Dr. Mehan was born in Dayton, Ohio. He received his medical degree at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
After his medical internship at the Kettering Medical Center in Dayton, he completed his ophthalmology residency at University of Missouri in Colombia, Missouri. He then joined the University of Iowa, in Iowa City, where he provided comprehensive general ophthalmic care and specialized in cornea and external diseases and refractive surgery.
Dr. Mehan’s special interests include cornea and refractive surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma and laser surgery. He is an active member in the American Academy of Ophthalmology. At the University of Missouri, he was awarded the Quality Service Award.

During Dr. Mehan’s last year in Iowa, he was awarded the sole fellowship in Cornea and External Disease and Refractive Surgery at the University of Iowa, ranked fourth in the country in ophthalmology by the 2008 US News and World Report. He was awarded the Best Fellow Award in this prestigious department of ophthalmology.
